After missing a plethora of chances in the first half, the Super Falconets of Nigeria defeated their counterparts from Tanzania 3-0 in a 2018 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifying match played in Benin City on Saturday.
Forward Rasheedat Ajibade stole the show with a brace in the 52nd and 57th minutes. First, she dribbled past her marker before finding the far corner and then, five minutes later, the nimble footed striker shrugged off a Tanzanian defender after being assisted by the impressive Folashade Ijamilusi.
Wing back Lilian Tule had earlier scored the opener for the Falconets in the first half via a freekick in 22nd minute.
Falconets Head Coach, Chris Danjuma told thenff.com he was impressed with the team’s all round performance and has high hopes of an improved performance when both sides meet again in Dar es Salaam in two weeks.
” I have no reason to worry despite the many missed chances. I trusted the girls would get the goals, and they did. I was impressed with their play. But we will still work on the team to maintain the momentum and play better when we meet for the return leg, ‘ he said.

The return leg will be played in Dar-es-Salaam in a fortnight with the aggregate winner facing either Morocco or Senegal in the next round.
