The Forum of Directors of Sports in the country has applauded the appointment of a core professional, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, as General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation.
Chairman of the forum, Mr. Tunde Kazeem (Director of Sports, Kwara State), delivered this message on Wednesday when the executive council of Directors of Sports Forum paid a visit to the NFF Secretariat.
Kazeem, in company with Dr. Kweku Tandoh (Lagos State); Mr. G. L. Dapar (Plateau State), M. A. Musa (FCT), Usman Ladan (Kebbi State); Umar Nekendawiri (Adamawa State); Utobo Emmanuel (Ebonyi State) and; B. O. Adewunmi (Ekiti State), hailed the new direction being charted for the development of football in Nigeria by the NFF Board headed by Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick.
“The Forum of Directors of Sports is proud and highly delighted that our colleague, Dr. Sanusi, has been appointed as General Secretary by the NFF Board. We will give him the maximum support to succeed in his assignment.
“We are also happy with the capacity –enhancing programmes of this new NFF Board, as well as other positive developments that suggest an entirely new and exciting direction for development of Nigeria football. No amount of money spent on capacity –building is too much or a waste.”
Kazeem, a former national badminton champion, also hailed the efforts of the League Management Company. “We are happy with the way the Premier League is being run. The efforts by the NFF to improve the referees have been fruitful, as so many teams are now winning matches away from home, something that was not happening for a couple of decades.”
Responding, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, thanked the forum and assured that he would work hard to make all professional sports administrators proud.
“I am very much aware of my role here as head of administration at NFF, and my responsibility to the body of professionals. I will do my very best to make all professionals proud,” Sanusi said, while appealing to the forum to constantly engage the Football Associations in their States for meaningful and positive relationship with the State FAs.
