Shooting Stars’ defender Jamiu Alimi has been called up to the Super Eagles’ squad for this month’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture against Swaziland.
The lanky stopper takes the place of Germany –based Leon Balogun, who has been knocked out by injury after being named in the 24 –man squad last week.
Alimi was in great form alongside Austin Oboroakpo and wing –backs Kalu Orji and Chima Akas as the Home –based senior boys shut out Burkina Faso’s Etalons over two legs last month to steer Nigeria to the 4th African Nations Championship finals in Rwanda.
He will now join up with the squad in Abuja on Monday morning as preparations begin in earnest for the first leg of the fixture in Lobamba on Friday, 13th November. The return leg has been confirmed for Port Harcourt on Tuesday, 17th November.
