Kingsley Michael, Golden Eaglets’ number 6 was practically ‘moon walking’ and revelled in the joy of scoring twice in as many months against the A Selecao of Brazil at an internationaltournament.
Ever showing a frail demeanour, Michael who is called Wacko- Jacko or Indomie, has distinguished himself over time with elegant display in the middle of the pack for Nigeria’s U-17 side under the watch of
Emmanuel Amuneke. He grabbed the opening goal for the Golden Eaglets in the 2-1 defeat of the Junior Samba Boys on September 4 at the Suwon U-17 International Youth Tournament in South Korea, and on
Sunday added his name with a ‘bubbling volley’ into the roof of the net beyond a shell-shocked goalkeeper Juliano.
“I’m so happy after scoring against Brazil again on Sunday. I scored against them in our last encounter in Suwon,” stated Michael, a two-time winner of the annual Karanka Reveria Invitational Tournament in Croatia with Abuja Football College in 2013 and 2015.
“Scoring against them at the World Cup gives me a special feeling, and the only person on my mind after scoring that goal was our team doctor (Dr. Deji Olarinoye) because he is always pushing me to work harder.”
Michael said he had a premonition that Sunday was going to be special for him after scoring almost in similar style during the team’s last training session on Saturday. “The goal I scored against Brazil
on Sunday was more or less the same I scored during our training on Saturday. I applied the same technique and I’m happy that we are able to use some of the things taught us by the coaching crew in match situation.”
