Wednesday evening inside the main bowl of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, saw a change of leadership on top of the Glo Super 4 table as Matchday 5 brought up some sparkles with Nasarawa United putting up a powerful display over league champions Enyimba, while it was a goalless affair between home side Akwa United and bottom placed Warri Wolves.
In the first game of the day, Nasarawa United raced to the top of the log after a hard fought 2-1 victory over Enyimba FC.
Defence trojan, Seun Sogbeso put the Solid Miners ahead in the 61st minute from the penalty spot before Christian Pyagbara equalized for the People’s Elephant just two minutes later.
Tayo Fabiyi scored a late winner for the Lafia-based team.
In the other game, Akwa United failed to seize the advantage to take the top spot as the Maurice Cooreman-tutored side locked horns against Warri Wolves, a game that ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
The result means Akwa United are second placed on the table with 8 points from 5 matches, Nasarawa United are the leaders, howbeit on goals difference they are ahead of the Promise Keepers. Enyimba FC who had earlier lost to Nasarawa United by 1-2 are third while Warri Wolves are rock bottom.
Matchday 6 sets up fantastic fixtures, with Warri Wolves trading tackles with Nasarawa United by 5pm and the final game will see Akwa United battle Enyimba by 7pm.
