The exceptionally gifted Asec Mimosas Academy Boys laboured to add one more goal in the second half to run away with a 4- 1 victory over Super Falcons in the Test Match played at Asec Mimosas Sports Centre in Abidjan.
Although the scoreline did not reflect the hard work of the Super Falcons, the Africa champions gave good account of themselves in the match watched by a handful of spectators.
The match saw the Falcons trying two different tactical formations in both half of the encounter. They started with the 4-2-3-1 formation in first half while the 4-2-1-3 formation was adopted in the second stanza.
Technical Adviser, Thomas Dennerby who spoke after the match expressed his satisfaction over the performances of his players in the game , pointing out that the idea of playing the boys teams in the build-up to the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Ghana is to test the resilience of the players against stiff opposition like the one they will face in Ghana.
Said ” Although I don’t like losing any match but the loss to the renowned Asec Mimosas Academy Boys is not anything to worry about. I am satisfied that my players gave a good account of themselves. I know what I am looking for in the matches we have played against the boys team and I must say that my team will come out good against any other opposition”.
The Swede tactician however disclosed that he will now pitch the Super Falcons against a women’s football team next week in Abidjan in the final phase of the camping in Sol Beni Hotel facilities.
