Hon. Bala Ibrahim Mamsa, the Commissioner for  information, Culture, Youths and Sports in  Jigawa State has lauded the organization of the just concluded Nationwide League One division three zonal playoff across eight centers in the country, adding that Nationwide League football should be restricted to young players only.

Hon. Mamsa who was on ground in Kano to cheer Rising Stars FC of Jigawa to victory in the play-off in that zone, said on Thursday that he was thrilled with soccer artistry exhibited by the two finalists;  Funtua FC of Katsina and Rising Stars FC of Jigawa, stressing that players above 20 years should not be allowed to play in the Nationwide League again.

“I am overwhelmed with what I saw here today (Thursday); these boys made my day. I do not regret coming here to watch this game, in fact, the Nationwide League deserves our total support.

“You see, with the coming of Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah into the Nationwide League and the passion of the NLO Chairman, Alh. Ahmad Kawu, as well as the good work by the Secretariat anchored by Olushola Ogunnowo, the sky is your limit.

“However, I want to advise that from next season only young players below the age of 20 years should be allowed to play in the Nationwide League,” he said.

As for Rising Stars players who emerged the overall winners in the Kano centre, he said: “I will take the message back to my boss, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, and I’m very sure that he will reward them accordingly for making the State proud.”
